Czech label Brokis has expanded its design portfolio to include their very first outdoor lighting collection. The Bonbori was created by renowned Japanese designer Fumie Shibata. Inspired by the traditional Japanese paper lamps that line the paths during the annual paddy festivals.
The word 'bonbori' not only refers to this traditional form of lighting but also describes the soft light coming from a snowy cave. Its soft and diffused light creates a warm and festive environment. BONBORI is sturdy, stylish and a little magical.
BONBORI is available in two variants, the first is a nod to the paper lantern inspiration called the Bonbori Wall Up and the second is a mirrored version called the Bonbori Wall Down. Both variants are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. BONBORI has a stainless-steel base finished in an environmentally friendly weather-resistant powder coating with a removable LED light source that casts a soft glow through a diffusor and laser-cut openings in the stainless steel. The likeness to the traditional BONBORI lamp is achieved with an elegant hand-blown glass shade, crafted from multiple layers of carefully moulded glass.
The shade comes in smoke grey, smoke brown, triplex opal and opaline glass, while the metal base is available in black matte, copper metallic matte, or grey metallic matte. The Bonbori is also available as floor lamps in two dimensions which are perfect for driveways and flower beds.
