Marset re-invented FUNICULI, a design by Lluís Porqueras. Porqueras always seeks absolute simplicity in his designs, in combination with optimal functionality. Because of this simplicity, his designs are often timeless pieces that fit in many different styles. As Porqueras says himself: “All I wanted to do was to pare away, to pare away and to pare away until I reached the pure essence of a simple, useful object!”. FUNICULI is a perfect example of this concept. It was inspired by the flex lights of the mid 70’s, which Porqueras had always liked because of their usefull, flexible stem. This is also where FUNICULI got it’s name from: funicular. Porqueras wanted to make his own flex light which would be able to adapt even more easy to the desired lighting height and angle. He thought of two stems that could slide past each other, with an independently rotating diffuser. 30 years later, Marset made its re-edition by enlarging the shade and the base, so that it would be more stable and cover the light source completely. Besides that, a wall light and a desk light were added to the FUNICULI collection to complete the family.
