The 2016 winner is Hannakaisa Pekkala, a student at a Finnish design institute.
Pekkala’s winning creation ‘Symmetry’ consist of a series of three sculptural, elegant and minimalistic pendant lamps: square, circle, and diamond. Various creations can be grouped to form a unique configuration, or just one simple lamp will stand out as well. The powerful visual and graphical expression of ‘Symmetry’ is eye-catching and easy to grasp. The concept represents light in a basic and decorative way and becomes a central part of any interior. The Circle shaped pendant is now available. When and if the square and rectangular shaped pendants will be launched is not clear.
The lamp's body is made of metal tube covered with a fabric cord to add a smooth touch. ‘Symmetry’ is contemporary and clean, making it an attractive lighting object and a worthy winner of the Northern Lighting Design Award 2016.
